Taking a break from assignments --

Why do people still think Squall was based on Gackt? It's pretty clear that Tetsuya Nomura was inspired by River Phoenix instead. They even share the same birthday... (August 23).

I present to you:

LEONARDO DICAPRIO STRUTTING MEME COLLECTION :D
(a.k.a: Leonardo diHapprio)

Here is the original picture, from the set of Inception:

Here are the priceless meme pictures:

Procrastination

Taking a break from cost planning assignment to vomit out some musings just because I feel like it. Nagging thoughts will constantly be swirling in my mind until I get it out, so here I am, getting it out.

.......

.......

....... On second thought, malaslah. Takde mood nak buat sentence structuring and everything. My brain hurts too much.

Cheating my way out of a substantial post:

'THE FIVE THINGS I OWN' BLOG MEME

1. Name a CD you own that no one else on your friends list does.
Bust A Groove 2 Soundtrack CD. It's a soundtrack album of a PSone dancing video game by Konami which predates DDRevolution, Guitar Hero, or any similar hand-eye-rhythm game you see today. In fact, it was one of the pioneers of this genre.

2. Name a book you own that no one else on your friends list does.
Wednesday's Child -- some dodgy, B-list horror paperback about a cursed baby born on a Wednesday -- that I picked up from Pay-Less-Books. To its credit, the book gave me nightmares for years.

3. Name a movie you own on DVD/VHS/whatever that no one else on your friends list does.
Flight of the Conchords HBO-movies: yes, both of them. (but then again, Ali mesti ada kot...)

Name a place that you have visited that no one else on your friends list has.
A hot springs bath in Leukerbad, Switzerland that was populated by naked, OLD, Swiss people. The irony is that I was fully dressed and they were completely bare, yet I was the one who felt uncomfortable. At least I wasn't as bad as my aunt, who was decked out in muslimah swimming gear.

4. Name a piece of technology or any sort of tool you own that you think no one else on your friends list has.
An advanced flour sifter tool -- you know, since nowdays people think that pouring flour onto a traditional flour-sifter and hitting it with your hands isn't good enough. MY flour-sifter has a mug-like handle which can activate some sort of funky fanblades below the tool to sift the flour. Seriously.

Omigod, like. JB is like, SO HOT!

Okay siapa rasa macam nak strangle Justin Bieber setiap kali adik/anak saudara/anak buah pasang lagu tu 104847 kali, sila angkat tangan.

Top 5 useless male clothing ever invented

Necktie

Are men so insecure that they need a piece of (totally useless) clothing to remind everyone in vicinity that they have something long hanging from their front?

Vest/Waistcoat

As expected of the Victorian fashion, this is part of the tie-vest-coat combo that has absolutely zero function. Does it bind the male body similar to a corset, to save our eyesight from bulging beer bellies and man-boobs?

".... Or not."

Belts over pants

'Coz Tetsuya Nomura says its cool.

Squall's wise words about his unique fashion sense: "Whatever."

Backwards baseball cap

Similar to putting your sunglasses on top of your head, wearing a cap indoors, or wearing your underwear outside your pants.

Beret

Honestly does the army think that the beret will bulletproof their heads from stray bullets or missile bombs? And do they think that anyone actually cares if the beret was worn wrongly, in a battlezone area??

Quoted by a military man: "A beret is a worthless piece of headgear. It gets you hot in the summer, doesn't warm you up in the winter and is useless for keeping the sun out of your eyes."

If an alien from space came down and visited these guys, it might be wondering "What the hell are tough guys like these wearing unidentified, floppy lumps on their heads?"

....I would totally make a female version of this post, but then I remembered that 90% of our clothes are completely useless anyways.

BSSM Funk

Sigh. I've been hit with some sort of Sailormoon-obsession virus these few days. Been watching the SeraMyu musicals on Youtube (OMG Yuu Shirota!), rereading the manga on mangafox, reading tons of fanfics, combing through hundreds of google searches, and reading random fancomics based on the characters. I've been in such a funk that I subconsciously drew a fanart of Venus in between weird lapses of time.

....Don't ask.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

This post is dedicated to Dayang, Joanna, Mazuina, Syima.

I was walking around in Borders when I saw this:

TWILIGHT: THE MANGA (OH NOESSS)

Quality sucks because I curi2 amik gambar using my iphone in Borders, but who needs quality for something like Twilight? (I know, jahat. Sorry can't help being prejudiced XD)

At least Edward looks hotter here than silly RPattz.

(Btw, the last panel mcm copy Vampire Knight's scene je.. the one with Zero and Yuuki in the bathroom....)

Australian Stereotypes

I'm in my university doing a presentation for my Urban Ecologies subject, but I sidetracked a little to present these funny as hell pictures about Australian stereotypes.

Sydney Opera House - CHECK
Kangaroo - CHECK
Man riding kangaroo in city - CHECK

Fosters beer - CHECK
Kid drinking Fosters beer - CHECK
Kangaroo - CHECK

I'm surprised the kid isn't eating Vegemite as well, or maybe burnt toast with barbequed shrimp...

 This is my favourite.

(In case some of you are geographically-challenged -- it's supposed to be Austria there)

Randomites

I'm loving all the '80s references XD Christopher Lloyd and Micheal J. Fox (Back to the Future), and Falcor (Neverending Story)! Falcor absolutely killed me here.

And John Cusack as Harry Potter. DO WANT.

School Days and other crazy adventures

I just watched this show earlier, which starts off with an innocent love story but becomes a murder story later on ala Higurashi. Hahahaha it's a trainwreck but I love it.

What do you do when your ex-boyfriend is a total bastard who cheated on his ex-ex girlfriend for you, then  then sleeps with the rest of the female school population, then gets back together with the aforementioned ex-ex girlfriend, then you find out you're pregnant, and LASTLY he shuns all responsibility and tells you to abort the baby while he sticks with his ex-ex girlfriend (which btw, was treated like shit back when he cheated on her for you)?

Ha ha ha ha.

So anyways, the pregnant girl stabs the asshole repeatedly in the stomach with a kitchen knife until he dies (all the while crying in pain before taking his last breath), and then runs away from his apartment when she realizes her actions.

That's not even the best part.

The guy's girlfriend finds his dead body in the room, goes insane with revenge, tricks the pregnant girl to the school rooftop, shows her the dead guy's severed head (?????), then takes a saw/cleaver/machet and saws off the pregnant girl's head, then rips open the body to check for a fetus.

The girlfriend's last words:

"As I expected... there's no one in here. She lied."

FUCK she checked the pregnant girl's stomach for a baby!!!!

So then she takes her boyfriend's severed head (?????) and sails off in a NICE BOAT, all the while hugging his head while saying that now they can finally be together.....

????????????????????????????

Hahaahahah that was the best ending ever! Ex girlfriend kills ex-boyfriend due to jealousy, and current girlfriend gets so traumatized she went axe-crazy and sailed off into the sea with the boyfriend's severed head??

If you ask me, it would have been sweeter if the girlfriend jumped off the roof and commited suicide after killing the pregnant girl, but I guess the NICE BOAT ending had more dramatic impact.

.... I think I'm getting weirder and weirder by the second.

Gee - SNSD

The dance is addicting....

Okay, Syima has officially made me take interest in this Korean whachamacallit thingy. This girl is from SNSD right? She's wasting her time in the girl group -- go branch out into a solo career, her dance moves are wicked!!

Anyways, no update for my life. Same ol' same ol'.

Guessing game!

Just to be completely random, here's a little pop quiz for you guys to figure out:

Based on their faces, try and guess which country each guy represents:

Hint:

- America
- England (my personal favourite -- bonus points if you guess correctly!)
- Japan
- Germany
- Italy
- Russia
- France

Dear God: wealth, health and FF Versus XIII

What I wish for next year:
1. Be a better person. Physically, emotionally, spiritually, and even behaviour-wise.

2. Please let me get a scholarship. I don't care how or what, just that I get it.

3. I wish my parents good health and money.

4. I want to play FFXIII right now (cepatlah 9 March). Oh, and I want more information on FFversusXIII already. I've been waiting since last year. No, scratch that -- TWO years ago.
Please Nomura. You've been developing this game for FOUR FREAKING YEARS. 2006 -- I was still a teenager back then, dammit. And please don't talk about clothes again. This is Final Fantasy, not Gossip Girl.

I waited exactly a year for more news about Versus, and all I got was the main character's new costume? Sigh. At least it looks way better than the previous costume, which looked like garbage bags.

(Is now waiting impatiently for someone to leak the latest trailer scene shown in the Jump Festival)

Wait what the?

You know I have ran out of things to say when you see something like this. I think it's just that time of the month where I get totally sick of blogging and become temporarily insane.

Kucinta = Kucing + Cinta

Just wondering, do Malaysia have their own special breed of cats?

I mean, have you ever wondered what breed your own cats belong to? I know mine is a black-and-white bicolored (almost tuxedo) cat, but I can never seem to find out what breed she is. So I searched around the internet, and the closest I can find is that she is a domestic shorthair (DSH) with a siamese build.

But then again, what are the common breeds in Malaysia? I read this interesting cat lover blog who described Singapore and Malaysia having a lot of 'bobtails' cats (cats with stumped tails), and most strays are tabbies, with a little bit of siamese influence (we are next to Thailand, after all).

But currently there are talks of a 'Malaysian' cat, which is called.... Piawaian Kucing Malaysia. WTF! What kind of lame-ass name is that? They think cat breeds are like some engineering term ke apa???

'Piawaian Kucing Malaysia' supposedly resembles a Tonkinese (Siamese + Burmese) cat. The cat is attractive enough, now please change the freaking name!

Typical Malaysian kampung cat, called 'Malay Tabby bobtail'.
Even though Malaysia has no native cat breed (before Piawaian whatever), this type of cat was noted to be around since 1884. The tabby pattern is most likely because it is useful for camaflouge -- as most stray cats need to survive on the streets, this is to their advantage. I have no idea why it is a bobtail, though.

Oh and to clear things up: tabby is not a type of breed, it is a type of pattern (see the coat pattern of Malay Tabby bobtail above). My bicolor cat is not a tabby, because she has a black and white furcoat.

Games from my childhood

Might as well blog about this, because I don't think I can play any of them anymore. My favourite console was definitely the PSone, even if I got it late (right before PS2 came out).

Mario Superworld (SNES)

I remember the SNES days very well. We got it after my older brother got good results for his UPSR, and this was the first game we played. Actually, we were exposed to Mario since the Gameboy days, but seeing a fully coloured Super Marioworld was probably, the best thing that had ever happened to our little gaming lives. I remember the colourful Yoshis, the growth mushrooms, the special Yoshi level (inside the cave)... boy these were the fun times.

Donkey Kong Country (SNES)

For a SNES game, this had the BEST graphics during that time. Donkey Kong Country helped SNES win against Sega Genesis, ultimately grabbing a spot on the top of the console industry. I remember a lot of the graphics (obviously), Sonic-like rings shaped as bananas instead, and some of the more unique levels -- chased by sharks underwater, anti-gravity stage, climbing a rope which was being burnt below, climbing a tree that had a chainsaw slowly moving its way up...

Megaman X (SNES)

The only Megaman game that I've ever played. We didn't have much choice back then, see -- so I played whatever game that was available. I suck though. I was never good at the boss stages. But still, this game brought back a lot of memories, especially those elementary school days.

Sonic the Hedgehog (Sega Genesis)

I'm sure everyone born in the 80s must have played Sonic (whatever incarnation) at least ONCE in their entire lives. Or read about them in Archie Comics. Or watched the cartoon. Granted, I've never owned any Sega before, but we would always play Sonic when we visit our cousin.

Harvest Moon 2 (SNES)

When the word 'Harvest Moon' comes up, the first thing that will pop up in people's mind is the PSone version, Harvest Moon: Back to Nature'. But actually, Harvest Moon was created long before the PSone days. I played the SNES version on an emulator, and boy was it addicting! Though, I have to say that the best Harvest Moon is still the PSone version. And maybe the PSP Rune Factory.

- The era of JRPG, PSone -

Suikoden 2 (PSone)

Yezzahh, this era was created especially for me. I loved turn-based RPG, too bad kids nowdays prefer RPG/platform/1-person shooter-hybrids ala Kingdom Hearts. Suikoden 2 was the best in the series, followed by Suikoden 3 and 5. (Though, I love 4. Why so much hate??) Jowy was the most tragic character ever, even if you got the happiest ending. The politics and storyline was and is still engaging, the characters are well-developed, and the gameplay was pretty good. Nowdays RPG put more importance on the graphics and gameplay, rather than a unique plot. That's so sad.

Bloody Roar 2 (PSone)

I don't usually play fighting games, but Bloody Roar 2 gets a special mention by being the first ever fighting game I've ever played. I mean, I watched my brothers play KOF and Street Fighter, but Bloody Roar interested me so much until I actually picked up the console and played it several times. And duh, I always took the Bunny (Alice?).

Final Fantasy VII (PSone)

Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy. It's official, Squaresoft/Square-Enix has my soul. I have to agree with millions of other gamers out there -- this is the BEST RPG EVERRRR. If you don't like it, it's either: 1) You haven't played it, 2) You hate it just because it's popular.

Playing this game is like reading an amazing novel, only you get to control the characters and explore the rich world. After THAT SCENE (come on you should know), I stopped playing for at least two days because I was still sad. Even though I knew about the death from years ago. And then came the 'You are a clone' scene -- I stopped playing for another 2 days because I was depressed. LOL!

Best graphics at that time, innovative gameplay, innovative storyline, everything. This game has my soul.

Aerith's death is the most moving scene in the history of games. She was my favourite, too :(

Final Fantasy VIII (PSone)

Even if FFVII is my favourite, FFVIII comes in a close second because it was the first Final Fantasy game I've ever played. I can still remember the day -- it was somewhere in Dec 1999. And this game has mind-blowingly beautiful graphics! Gawd! I was gawking at all the pretty scenery and FMV sequences when my brother was playing, and got so interested that I finally tried it out for myself. The rest is history. I even bought the PC version so that I can play it while my brothers hogged the PSone for their FIFA games.

Oh and FFVIII is the most romantic game ever. It's equivalent to Titanic, minus the tragic ending. Or worse than Titanic, if you believe in the 'Rinoa = Ultimecia' theory.

Final Fantasy IV, VI, IV, X.... I would list them all (a LOT), but I might as well just make a separate post, now? Yeah, I'm an FF fangirl.

Legend of Dragoon (PSone)

This is also another of my favourite RPGs in the PSone era. First of all, the graphics are pretty. Then I also think that the gameplay is really addicting -- the aim-and-hit feature. And also, the plot is good. Too bad I never did get to finish it because the PSone broke before I could.

Bust a Groove 2 (PSone)

I love this game to pieces!!! I even downloaded it for the PSP, just so I can play it again. It's like a fighting game, only instead of beating each other up, we compete by dancing! Yeah, I know you'd point out Dance Dance Revolution or maybe Guitar Hero, but this game preceded those later games. My favourite character was Kelly, who likes to dress up like a policewoman. Man, it was fun getting her to do the stripper dances.

Legend of Zelda, Ocarina of Time (PSone)

Of course, people know Zelda better from the SNES days, but I only found out about it through 'Ocarina of Time'. Sad, huh? But whatever it is, this game revitalized the Zelda franchise into a big hit it is today.

Tales of Destiny 2 (PSone)

Another favourite. I even caught up with the anime and other related merchandise -- I was that obsessed. I didn't really liked the battle gameplay, but the storyline made up tons for it. Two planets merged at a point and was slowly unravelling... that really is something unique.

Pokemon Yellow (Gameboy)

Pokemon is more of Maz's forte (she loves them to death), but my favourite out of many was Pokemon Yellow. Maybe it was because I really liked the anime and Yellow was a way to 'relive' that feeling. Otherwise, Yellow was basically a Red that was adjusted to match the storyline of the anime.

- Special mention (PS2 era and beyond) -

Katamari Damacy (PS2)

I think PS2 is still way too recent to be called 'games from my childhood', but I think this deserves a special mention for being utterly AWESOME. Objective of the game: Roll up anything you see into a big ball of junk. You can roll up even the entire earth. What's the point of doing that? NO REASON AT ALL. It just looks cool.

So for being an utterly pointless game, it's still addicting. Addicting enough that it won 'Best Game of the Year'.

---------------------------------------------------------------

Okay sorry for taking up your time and RAM memory. This is also another pointless blog post.
